I don't want to come off as an Attracta defender… even though I do like their tools, but I feel I have to correct some facts.

All of their basic tools are free.

Their link building tool is free– and gives you up to 3 keyword text links from a PR 6 directory. Yes, there is a paid upgrade that blasts your listing to all the top directories, but the basic is free. Try it. 48 hrs after publishing your site in their directory do a Google search for your domain in quotes: "mydomain.com" and see all the links to your site. The links from Attracta are always high in the SERP because they have a high PR.

Also, they do have a meta tag report — it shows to long, to short, missing or duplicate Title and Description tags – and a broken link report. Look in the My Account section under Reports.

Yes, there are many factors to SEO. Good content being the most important. But XML Sitemap submission is critical to SEO, as is staying off the blacklist and all the other basic stuff Attracta automates for you.

Yes, Attracta is basic SEO and they probably could be better. I have used them many times and they save a lot of time, but most important, they work. They do help list more pages and improve ranking. Especially for SEO novices. I think that's why over a million sites use them.

Honestly, for those that know SEO , Attracta is not even the slightest bit useful. It has some kind of cryptic grading system that rates your site based on a 4 variables -

1. Google Blacklist check
2. Create a Sitemap
3. Link Building ( which you have to pay for )
4.Social Networking ( checks to see if you have a FB and Twitter page )

And that’s it. Of course all of those things are important when it comes to increasing page rank \ visibility on the internet , but there are sooooo many more factors that come into play ( i.e Keywords , Meta Tags, Use of H1 tags, etc ) .

Personally I think it could be much better. In the end, none of what Attracta offers makes a significant change in SEO. I have to say thumbs down …

I checked out their free service and they gave me a perfect score. When someone from their sales staff contacted me I found them helpful and non-aggressive.

I'm looking to outsource some things and back linking seems like a good way to do it. I need to have another discussion with their rep and to do a little more research though.

I've found the posts here helpful.

RE: "FALSE" Reports

Their report gives a warning if you haven't created and submitted a "new" updated sitemap within the past month. Nothing to do with a "proper" sitemap… just how often you update it. Seems your client miss understood.

I've been using them on several sites for over a year and I actually found this a helpful reminder to update my sitemap every time I make a change to one of my sites.

I clicked on the link, but when I saw the page, I realized I hadn't heard of this before, the page looked sketchy, and the web address was not craigslist's.
