5 Easy Ways To Get Your Creative Juices Going

Writing an article doesnt just mean putting down thoughts into words then typing and writing it. You have to capture the interest of your readers and get them to keep on reading. To send your message across you have to get the attention of the reader and have a firm grasp of their interest and pique their curiosity.

The main ingredient in baking up an article is a large dose of creativity. While creativity may come natural to many people, some just gets into a block or something to that effect that can drive someone crazy. Many writers have literally torn their hair out when they get writers block and just cant seem to get their creative juices flowing.

Putting words into images in the readers mind is an art. A clear and crisp depiction requires a certain flair that only creativity can provide. Similes and metaphors help a lot, but the way an article gets entwined word for word, sentence by sentence then paragraph by paragraph into a whole article develops the essence of the article.

So just what do you have to do when nothing comes to mind? There is no surefire ways to get the perfect ideas but there are easy ways to get your creative juices flowing. No one can guarantee you of having the perfect mindset but many methods may aid you in achieving that state of mind. Here are five easy ways for that.

KEEP A DIARY OR A JOURNAL

KEEP A DIARY OR A JOURNAL

1) Keep a diary or a journal with you always. Ideas can be triggered by anything you may hear, see, or smell. Your senses are your radar in finding great ideas. Write all of them into a journal and keep it with you for future reference. You may also write down anything that you have read or heard, someones ideas could be used to develop your own ideas and this is not stealing. Remember that ideas and creativity can come from anywhere; its the development of the idea that makes it unique.

RELAX

RELAX

2) Relax and take time to sort things out. A jumbled mind cannot create any space for new ideas. Everyone must have a clear mind if one wishes to have their creativity in full speed. Get rid of all obstacles that can be a hindrance to your creativity. If you are bothered by something, you cannot force your mind to stay focused.

Try to relax every time that you can and think about your experiences and interactions with others. Your experiences are what shape your mindset and your opinions which could be reflected on your writings. Try to discover yourself, find out what triggers your emotions. Discover what inspires you and what ticks you off. You can use these emotions to help you in expressing yourself and your ideas, with this you can grow creatively.

CREATE A WORKSPACE THAT INSPIRES CREATIVITY

CREATIVE WORKSPACE

3) Create a working place that can inspire your creativeness. Your working place can be quite a hindrance if it doesnt make you feel happy or relaxed. Creativity comes from being in a good state of mind and a messed up workplace that causes distraction wont be conducive in firing up your creative flow.

Surround your working place with objects that makes you happy and relaxed. You may put up pictures, or scents, objects that inspire, or anything that can get your creativeness cranking. A clean and well organized workplace also rids of distractions and unwanted hindrances. With a good working place, you can work in peace and never notice the time pass by.

SET THE MOOD

4) Set the mood. Setting the mood requires you to just go with the moment or to induce your self to feeling what makes your mind works best. Finding out what makes you tick could help you find ways to get your creative juices flowing. Set the pace and tempo for your mood and everything else will follow.

There are many ways to set the mood. Some writers have been known to use alcohol, a little sip of wine to stir up the imagination. Some would like some mood music while others let the lighting of the environment create the mood.

GETAWAY

GETAWAY

5) Go on a getaway and just do something unlike crazy. Letting yourself go and have fun produces adrenaline that can make your imagination go wild. Take an adventure or a solemn hike. Whatever it is that is unusual from your daily routine can take the rut out of your schedule. In no time at all, your creativeness will make use of that experience and get your imagination to go on overdrive.

-These tips can be used by anyone in the creative field , concept is still the same whether you are a graphic designer , poet or a musician :)

Android HelpAndroid Help

Android HelpBeing the Android fan that I am , I always get messages in my email , or even on the live chat i have on the site. One of the most recurring question is , "How do I put my Phone Into Recovery Mode ?"

If you need to put your phone into recovery mode one of the following had to happen:

  • a Failed Firmware update
  • Tried Restoring phone to Factory Settings , and your battery died
  • You tried jailbreaking your phone and screwed the pooch
  • Aliens abducted your phone , and used it for testing

Before doing anything I recommend that you make a backup of your phones data.

  1. Turn on your phone
  2. boot your android phone into bootloader mode. You do this by pressing and holding the Volume down button and pressing the power key until the bootloader screen appears.
  3. After you see bootloader/fastboot mode screen you will find the recovery option. press recovery and your phone will boot into Clockwork recovery. Done.

You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page – WordPress Error

Shake Ya Tail Feather

Howdy gang !!! It's been a few days since my last post , so I thought i would make this one a doozy .Have you upgraded your WordPress installation , and find yourself having problems

  • Installing certain plugin ?
  • Accessing your admin panel when you try to login ?
  • When you try to do any of the following , does your screen like look this ?

You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page

Well ,  a couple of things could have gone wrong.  Sometimes ( depending on your setup) , the tables in your Mysql database don't update , and retain the default wp_  setting. For the geek impaired , that means that WordPress upgraded , but some of the files have remained unchanged , thus denying you access to some of the functionality in WordPress.

There is a quick fix for this problem here . This script was written by Mark Jaquith.

As with anything else , make sure you backup your database before trying any of this ( otherwise ,  all of the mystical creatures that live inside of your hosting will run amok and destroy your website

How to use the script :

Download

Force Upgrade for WordPress

Instructions

   1. Click “Download” and save as force-upgrade.php
   2. Upload force-upgrade.php to your WordPress root directory (the directory with wp-config.php)
   3. Access the file in your browser (e.g. http://example.com/wordpress/force-upgrade.php)
   4. Delete force-upgrade.php from your server

That's it ! Now try to reinstall the plugin , you should be cooking with gas now lol. and if not ? Then there are other steps that can be taken

Missing  .htaccess File?

Sometimes the error could be caused by this simple little , and super obscure file.

Here is a sample .htaccess file  that you can use. To use it copy the following , and save it  as htaccess.txt . Once you the file is saved , upload it to your FTP root  (  its where your wp-config.php file is ) . After it has successfully uploaded , rename the file ( this is super important ) .htaccess  ( please note the period infront of htaccess .

<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterInheritance Off
</IfModule>

, ( to modify it , you can use a free ( i love freebies )  text editor like Notepad ++   Notepad++ to make any changes .

Or , if you are a a control freak and love tweaking ,then you can check out the .htaccess generator here. It is chock full of nutty goodness , and has more features than you can shake a tail feather to Tina Turner - Shake Ya Tailfeather , lol .

Happy Codeslinging ya'll !!!

How to embed flash into facebook FBML

I just completed a Facebook Fan Page for Chango-Bi , and have gotten asked the same question over and over again , how to embed flash into an FBML tab. Here is a screenshot of the FBML page I created for her. FBML can be a little temperamental , but after a while , it becomes second nature . Here is a quick and easy way to do it     Just a few notes :

  • 520px  is the max width you can use , and 800px is the max height for your FBML tab
  • FBML does not allow the use of Javascript
  • You need a screenshot , or an image to be placed in front of the embedded flash , otherwise your visitors will see a big blank page.
  • Everything in the code above can be adjusted ( i.e color , border width , color , etc).

These are just some basic settings , howeve you can always check the Facebook Developers Forum

How To Spot A Fake Website

Written by on January 15, 2011 in How To - No comments

Fake Websites

So you checked your inbox and got an email from PayPal telling you that your account was limited. Here is a screenshot of the email that "PayPal" sent you.

Fake Email From Paypal

Looks  pretty official right ? Unfortunately it is not. This email was sent from someone that was "Phishing' or in other words  attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, credit cards, or any sensitive details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity ( in this case PayPal).

This is an official email from PayPal.

How to spot the real from the fake:

  • A real email from PayPal will have a key icon next to the address ( this is to certify that it is coming from PayPal) Any email sent from PayPal will have @paypal.com at the end of the address.

  •  In Gmail you would click reply, and then scroll down to where it says "Show Original"  , you will see more information  displayed on the email.  If you look below , you will  mailed-by , and signed-by – both addresses are coming from paypal.com

  • A real email from PayPal would be addressed to whoever owns the account , and not say "Dear Member" ( like the one above says) , if it does , then it is a FAKE

if an email is claiming to be official and is asking you to login to a completely separate website , it's a FAKE

  •

Account Limitd Email From Paypal

Compare the two emails and look at the differences closely. If you keep these tips in mind , you will be less likely to fall prey to some loser trying to get your personal information.

That  is just one example of a crafty hacker trying to use Phishing techniques on an unsuspecting mark. Just keep this one thing in mind : For every legitimate company that  collect personal information from customers have at least one fake site out there impersonating them. Anyone who uses the Internet for any purpose must be aware of the typical signs that website is fake.

More Tell Tale Signs of a Fake Site

Do the links on the site work ?

Some phishing sites copy sites and make them look as close to the original as possible. Everything from the logo placement , to the fake ads , etc. If you move your mouse over some of the inks on the page , they don't work ( ClPhoneSafety.org is a perfect example) Compare ClPhoneSafety.org to Craigslist.org  and you will see exactly what I am referring to. The fake site puts just enough information to have you believing that  it is a legitimate , fully functioning site, when infact , it is nothing more than a site designed to harvest information from unsuspecting visitors.

Is The URL Correct?

Alot of Phishers take advantage of commonly misspelled websites ( for example if you Google crgslist , the first site displayed will be the official craigslist site , and there is no harm in that.

Many phishing sites take advantage of common misspellings of a company name, fooling many people into putting in personal information without realizing they are at the wrong site. Often, the website will look exactly like the real site.

Even one letter or number being different in a URL is enough to put you in the hands of a professional phishing scam.

What fake sites have you come across ? Please share them here with us. I am compiling a list of fake sites , and would love some input from all to help it grow, and spread the word about phishers.

How To: Use Msconfig.exe to Disable Programs From Starting Up in Windows

Written by on January 7, 2011 in How To - No comments

msconfig

Pre-installed into Windows is a special tool called MSCONFIG ( which stands for  "Microsoft System Configuration Utility." Designed to help you troubleshoot problems with your computer, MSCONFIG can also be used to ensure that your computer boots faster and crashes less. If you see a lot of icons by your clock( located on the lower right hand side of your screen) , they could be slowing down your system. You can use MSCONFIG to speed up your system , and disable some of those programs.

Most people know that the more programs you have running on your computer at once, the more likely it is that your computer will either run as fast as molasses  or even crash. However, what most people don't know is that every time you boot your computer a whole mess of "hidden" programs load in the background. Some of these hidden programs are essential, but most aren't. Turning off some of these hidden programs can significantly increase your computer's performance and reliability.

taskbar

To access MSCONFIG , do the following:

  1. Go to Start

        2.  Click on "Run" , and type msconfig.exe

run menu

          3. Go to the tab that says "Startup"

           4.  These are the programs that are executed upon Windows starting up. Scroll through the list and click on the programs that you wish to disable.

msconfig

      5. After you make your selection , click "Apply", and then "OK" A prompt will popup asking you whether you want to "Restart" or "Exit Without Restart ". Before you click restart , make sre that you save anything you where working on.

system restart

     That's it !!!
